DESIGN

Design and everyday life

Design has got latent potential to affect humans both physiologically as well as psychologically. It resonates on a subtler level and has the potential to affect mass psychology. However latent it shows its manifestation in form and structure, patterns, variety of eclectic tastes. The energy that design imparts is altogether on a separate tangent and is difficult to comprehend and assimilate and that carve its way out into the simplest of details,it gets to the minutest of details. As already said “Design is in the details”.Details could be very specific as well as generic. It operates out both at micro and macro level and often clouded for human perception.

We need to be aware of the subtler dimensions that design imparts. It is aligned for the common people and has a broad spectrum and appeal. It operates out on physical and psychological plane of consciousness. It manifests in the form of your experiences with people ,your interactions with them often serendipitous. The magnitude to which it can impact society is manifolds. It is both utilitarian and aesthetic. The utility often supersedes the aesthetics. The irony is that the major chunk has been utilitarian and often aesthetics takes a backseat. Aesthetic and utilitarian percentages has to be in proportion. There has to be fine balance between the two and due share of both.Aesthetics has variance.Utilitarian is somewhat rigid. In the larger context design is predominantly utilitarian and less of aesthetic.Due to it being casual and non-definitive it has become redundant in today’s day and age.The idea is to highlight the realm in its innate state and make it more pronounced so as to make it reachable to the desired audiences.
